Meet Dr. Erin
Dr. Erin Cho is a Chicago native and a general dentist. She founded Re·gen Smile Studio in Lakeview for dentistry that starts with wellness.
She's a minimally invasive dentist. Her belief is that good dentistry keeps what's healthy, restores what's been lost and, where it can, helps the mouth heal, from the smallest filling to a full-mouth rehabilitation.
She's drawn to the regenerative side of dentistry, newer therapies that help the gums and bone heal, used when they're appropriate. The starting point is always the basics: biology, evidence and what's safest for you.

How Dr. Erin came to dentistry
Dr. Erin Cho grew up around her father's dental practice. Her family has been in dentistry for more than 30 years, and she spent years practicing alongside her dad and her brother before opening Re·gen Smile Studio in Lakeview.
What drew her in was watching him with his patients, and the joy the work gave him. For her it's still the one-to-one part: “working with people directly, being present, building trust, and helping someone right there in the chair.”
“Dentistry to me is where science, precision and artistry meet, using that blend to restore not just teeth, but how a person feels about themself.”
Dr. Erin's training and credentials
Dr. Erin earned her undergraduate degree and, through a competitive accelerated program, her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She then completed a General Practice Residency at Evanston Hospital, with rotations in emergency trauma, anesthesia, pediatrics and oral surgery.
She became a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry after more than 600 hours of continuing education, and trained at the Kois Center in restorative, gum and bite care.
The hardest thing to unlearn was the idea that dental school had already taught her the right way. “I think excellence in dentistry means never really being finished learning.”

Why she opened Re·gen
Dr. Erin founded Re·gen as a new kind of regenerative dental studio, and as the kind of dental home she'd want for her own family: calm, personal, and focused on your long-term health instead of quick fixes.
The timing wasn't easy. A year into her marriage, she found out she was pregnant just as the practice was getting ready to open, and she seriously considered walking away from the lease. The spot on Lincoln Avenue felt too right to give up. Opening a practice turned out to be harder than she expected, and getting to know her patients and the Lakeview community has made it worth it.
Five years from now, she'd like Re·gen to be “the dental home people actually look forward to visiting. A place trusted for cosmetic and implant care, and for taking on complex cases with clarity and heart.”
Outside the studio
Dr. Erin spends her free time with her husband and their baby, who is just a few months older than Re·gen itself.
Before the baby, you could find the two of them at their favorite Chicago restaurants: Mott St, Etta, Tuk Tuk, Aba and Proxi. For fitness, it's Barry's Bootcamp and hot yoga.
